Callisto introduces a research article published on Plos One title “Alarming Proportions of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in Wound Samples from Companion Animals, Germany 2010–2012”.

Researchers performed a survey during 2010-2013 in Germany to gain knowledge about the occurrence and genotypic variation of MRSA - Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus - among wound swabs of companion animal origin.

The survey included 5,229 samples from 1,170 veterinary practices. Data collected highlight the importance and the impact of S. aureus in general, and MRSA in particular, as a cause of wound infections in dogs, cats and horses in Germany.
