The EAG III includes experts on epidemiology, risk analysis and disease modelling of zoonotic diseases. The group is focused on the analysis of virus infections associated with companion animals. In the 2nd cycle of CALLISTO, the group worked closely with EAG IV and EAG V to identify the fifteen most important pathogens and contribute in finding additional data to be used for the preliminary risk assessment performed by EAG VI.

EAG III ranked viral pathogens important for human health risk and studied their route of transmission, presence in Europe and fatality rate. Viral pathogens important for livestock production risk and fish production risk were also ranked and analysed in detail.
